23 & 24 MAY 2025
As a creative haven, arts centre nona gives co-ownership to artists. One of those artists is dancer/choreographer Femke Gyselinck. She was previously in house with performances Moving Ballads (2020), Letters 2 Dance (2022) and Change of Plans (2023), and danced her short solo ERATO during our BROEK festival. Under the title Get A Grip, she is curating an event on 23 and 24 May.
During the 2023 edition, you got to see Ambient Theatre Fury by Anna Franziska Jäger and Nathan Ooms in addition to Gyselinck's work. The duo will return on Friday 23 May with their new creation Modesta (play of language and lips), which is a response to it. If the earlier show was about two people being stuck, Modesta, based on Goliarda Sapienza's novel The Art of Joy, is a refusal to be cynical and an ode to willpower.
Tarek Halaby and Sue-Yeon Youn return on Saturday 24 May after 17 years (!) with their duo performance Love. Death. My life with Ting-Yu. Oh wait, I am you, with which they caused a furore as P.A.R.T.S. students. How will it resonate in a completely different time? The young, French choreographer Solène Wachter then performs her first solo FOR YOU / NOT FOR YOU, a performance that gives the audience a completely different view of the mechanics of theatre and dance through an unusual set-up.
