Location
Arts center nona has two full-quality venues in Begijnenstraat, Mechelen with a unique character. Both are used intensively for concerts, performances, installations and residencies. If the halls are not used for artistic purposes, venue rental is usually possible (see also 'Venue rental').
How to get to nona
Our venues (Begijnenstraat 19 and 27) and office (Begijnenstraat 21) are located in the heart of downtown Mechelen. We encourage you - whenever possible - to visit our events on foot, by bicycle or public transport.
From January to April 2025, Sint-Katelijnestraat will be open due to works. During this period, visitors will therefore not enter the city center via Sint-Katelijnestraat for a while, but via Frederik de Merodestraat. All info via mechelen.be. By foot, you can always pass the construction site with caution.
Train
Mechelen-Nekkerspoel station is just a 12-minute walk from nona. Between main station Mechelen and nona, it is an average of 17 minutes walk. Too long for you? Then consider renting a green bike from Mobit, a Blue-bike or an on-demand scooter from Hoppy. You can find all the info about this online.
Car
Coming by car? Then be sure to leave on time. Finding parking can be difficult on some days. The Begijnenstraat is not accessible to cars without a permit. You can park in center car parks Kathedraal, Grote Markt or Lamot, or if these are full in peripheral car parks Zandpoortvest, Keerdok or Parking Tinel.
On Friday and Saturday you can also use the free Shopping Shuttle, which takes you from Grote Markt to parking Nekkerhal until midnight. More info here.
Bicycle
Across Begijnenstraat, at St. Rombout's Tower, you'll find ample bicycle parking. This way we keep our narrow street accessible to local traffic.
Accessability
Both venues of arts center nona are wheelchair accessible. Please report your arrival in advance, we will be happy to provide the required support. Can't see or hear (well)? Let us know in advance and we will do our best to make your visit as pleasant as possible. Arts center nona is a partner of the European Disability Card. (See also: ‘European Disability Card’).
