Ruben Machtelinckx is one of Belgium's most interesting contemporary musicians, collaborating with the likes of Arve Henriksen, Nils Økland, Jakob Bro, Joachim Badenhorst. In 2019, the quartet Machtelinckx/Badenhorst/Cools/Gouband released porous structures via Aspen Editions. The album won the Klara for “Best Belgian CD Jazz. 2024 sees the release of porous structures II, a new album by Machtelinckx with guitarists Fredrik Rasten and Frederik Leroux and percussionist Toma Gouband. What is new is the intertwining of acoustic guitars. The classic roles in an ensemble are abandoned: the three guitars weave a web and the percussion moves freely through it. The quartet plays a stubborn game of endless, subtle variations.

Schreel Van De Velde
Three years after debut album Balts, the duo Schreel Van De Velde presents follow-up A One And A Two. Brussels artists Lucas Schreel and Casper Van De Velde (last season in nona with schtzl and Vitja Pauwels' Early Life Forms) now sound even more decisive than before: the loud is now louder, the quiet quieter, the crazy crazier. The album shows how minimalism and the American primitivism of John Fahey & co. merge with free improvisation and indie rock. Always with that recognizable stamp between sentiment and thoughtfulness, playfulness and mystery.
