Dans Kapot

Blue Moon Spring is a personal journey of three dancers listening to and dancing to jazz music together. They approach jazz as a philosophy, more than a genre. The dance on show is an ongoing conversation. The performers use agreed frameworks as springboards for movements, deviations and wild ideas. They open themselves to the specific vibrations of each moment and create an improvised dance that we explore with them.

The music selection reflects certain qualities of jazz, such as care, playfulness, friction, sensuality, thriving in in-between spaces, and an urge to celebrate. By allowing existing musical excerpts to interact with music written especially for the performance, the piece draws history into a contemporary, complex web of sound.

Each performance is unique: the performers practise staying vulnerable and passionate through improvisation, dancing together with their differences, matching mastery and intuition, and dreaming wide awake.

A Small World is a dazzling spectacle led by Alexandros "Greco" Anastasiadis, for which power trio Don Kapot teams up with four dancers. Don Kapot is no less than a groove machine, a sensation through their rousing concerts and infectious humour. In 2019, the band met a group of dancers, and a new idea was born: what if you combined that energetic sound with movement, those musicians with dancers? The company created a furore at the Dansand festival and took to the streets of Brussels with vibrant guerrilla performances. The project was so successful that it convinced W.E.R.F. Records and JazzLab to include the seven-member gang in their 30th anniversary celebrations.
