GET A GRIP

Kunstencentrum nona geeft als creatieve vrijhaven mede-eigenaarschap aan kunstenaars. Een van die kunstenaars is danser/choreograaf Femke Gyselinck. Ze was eerder in huis met voorstellingen Moving Ballads (2020), Letters 2 Dance (2022) en Change of Plans (2023), en danste tijdens BROEK nog haar korte solo ERATO. Onder de noemer Get A Grip cureert ze een meerdaags festival.

Tijdens de editie van 2023 kreeg je naast haar eigen Change of Plans ook werk te zien van Anna Franziska Jäger & Nathan Ooms. Get a Grip 2025 is nog in volle ontwikkeling, maar dit duo komt alvast terug met hun nieuwe creatie Modesta (play of language and lips). De titel van de voorstelling verwijst naar het hoofdpersonage van het boek The Art of Joy van Goliarda Sapienza, geschreven in de jaren ‘60 maar pas drie decennia later gepubliceerd. Modesta spreekt tot de verbeelding door haar oneigentijdse karakter, haar onvoorwaardelijke zoektocht naar een vrijheid die de normen en hypocrisie van haar tijd uitdaagt.

As a creative sanctuary, kunstencentrum nona gives co-ownership to artists. One of those artists is dancer/choreographer Femke Gyselinck. She was previously in our house with performances Moving Ballads (2020), Letters 2 Dance (2022) and Change of Plans (2023), and danced her short solo ERATO during BROEK. Under the title Get A Grip, she curates a multi-day festival.

During the 2023 edition, in addition to her own Change of Plans, you got to see work by Anna Franziska Jäger & Nathan Ooms. Get a Grip 2025 is still in full development, but this duo is already returning with their new creation Modesta (play of language and lips). The title of the performance refers to the main character of the book The Art of Joy by Goliarda Sapienza, written in the 1960s but published only three decades later. Modesta captures the imagination through her unconventional character, her unconditional search for a freedom that challenges the norms and hypocrisy of her time.
