nona is looking for you

Nona is looking for a full-time production assistant for JazzLab. JazzLab is a trusted hub in the Belgian jazz scene, thanks to numerous initiatives in which the musician is always central. Since 2023, the organization has found shelter in art center nona in the heart of Mechelen.

The job is as multifaceted as JazzLab's operations: you will lead our concert series (6 to 7 per season), support individual musicians in their development and provide production support for sector events. Above all, you want to passionately follow and help develop the rich Belgian jazz scene. Together with the coordinator of JazzLab and the team of nona, you will form a well-oiled machine that plays a driving role in the contemporary music scene.

what you will do:

- You will follow up JazzLab concert productions from the first contact with the musicians until the realization of the tours. You make and distribute call sheets with all useful information for the musicians, you make contact with organizers and you yourself are also present at the concerts on a regular basis.
- You ensure a correct administration of contracts, invoices and payment orders.
- Together with your colleagues you organize showcase festivals and other sector events for domestic and foreign programmers.
- You actively think along in the development of activities and productions, and have an eye for subsidy lines to make new initiatives viable.
- you supervise musicians who follow a development trajectory at JazzLab.

we need you because you:

- are a smooth communicator who flawlessly senses musicians;
- are an accurate planner, but you can also switch quickly in unexpected situations;
- are a team player who enjoys working with colleagues to manage sector-wide events;
- are a music lover with a weakness for contemporary jazz;
- have a mind of your own and a desire to add personal touches to the workings of JazzLab;
- have an interest in current developments such as ecological touring and attention to minorities;
- you have sufficient English to communicate with colleagues who speak other languages;
- are flexible in terms of mentality and planning: evening and weekend work are part of the job;
- can keep order in a budget and you can adjust a project when necessary;

we offer:

- a full-time, open-ended contract.
- remuneration according to PC 304, wage category B, scale according to seniority.
- you will be part of a team of 20 employees, including some direct sparring partners for the jazz operation.
- You will work in a creative environment where artists are at home. You will get an insight into artistic creation processes and enjoy premieres, release concerts, festivals and vernissages.
- The evening and weekend work involved in the job is balanced by compensatory rest. We pay attention to a healthy work-life balance.
- nona's offices are in Mechelen, working from home is possible.
- we encourage sustainable commuting. If you live close by, you get a bicycle allowance. A little further away? Travel by public transport is 100% reimbursed.
