Dear EJN colleague,
We are delighted to inform and possibly invite you to an ambitious collaboration that aims to blur the linguistic boundaries of Belgian jazz.
As you may know, Belgium is a complex country with a sharp language border, which sometimes makes it more difficult than necessary for our artists and music lovers to get to know each other. Thus we started this collaboration, to erase the language borders and show jazz 'from the other side' at a Flemish (Dutch-speaking) and a Walloon (French-speaking) festival.
Music platforms JazzLab and FAZZ, and export agencies WBM and VI.BE are joining forces to present some of the finest Belgian jazz from ‘the other side’ to a wide audience and some international professionals. In 2025, this will take place at Leuven Jazz festival on the Dutch-speaking side and the Gaume Jazz festival on the French-speaking side.

We would love to invite some international guests to attend the performances of four bands that represent the Walloon jazz scene at the Leuven Jazz festival from March 19 to 21, 2025.
We are offering travel costs, two nights accommodation and evening meals in the heart of the city of Leuven, where you can discover the program below, in addition to the other concerts of Leuven Jazz Festival (full program available on www.leuvenjazz.be). There will be plenty of time to meet the artists and network with colleagues.
FRANCOPHONE PROGRAM AT LEUVEN JAZZ :
19/3 - 17:00 - 30CC : Munsch Trio
19/3 - 22:15 - CORSO CLUB : Under the Reefs Orchestra
20/3 - 12:15 - 30CC : Vaganée - Gerstmans - Verbruggen
20/3 - 17:00 - 30CC : BEX
We would also like to offer the possibility to arrive a day earlier to catch some excellent performances on 18/3, including the JazzLab Impuls-project The Rising Moon and Moondog Revisited at the Sint-Geertruikerk.
Would you like to be invited? Mail to mik [at] jazzlab.be (mik[at]jazzlab[dot]be) and museactasbl [at] gmail.com (museactasbl[at]gmail[dot]com), explain your interest in Belgian jazz and why it would be wise of us to invite you. We just might have good news for you…
Deadline: 10 February 2025.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Mik, Simen, Zoé, Lize, Julien, Danny & Jean-Pierre
An organisation of FAZZ, WBM, VI.BE, Leuven Jazz, Gaume Jazz and JazzLab. This collaboration project is supported by the Cultural Administrations of Flanders and Wallonia.
